Margaret: A Tyger’s Heart

By Michael Sexton
Directed By Kay Matschullat

Red Bull Theater

Red Bull Theater presents Michael Sexton’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s character, Margaret of Anjou from Shakespeare's Henry VI, Pts 1, 2 and 3, and Richard III.

Told in one evening, we follow Margaret as she grows from a young girlish flirt, to adulteress and back room operator, to wartime Queen and leader. Margaret’s strength and determination conspire with her fate to take her far from the plain girl we first meet, to an oracular voice who, in her prophecies and curses, pronounces judgment on a society that has descended into the horror of civil war.

The incredible story of Margaret of Anjou gets front-and-center attention in this adaptation, putting Margaret in her rightful place at the center of her own story. She becomes as rich, complicated and full of suspense as a Henry or Macbeth.
